After comparing it to more than a dozen other SUVS, many of them legendary off-roaders and luxury utility vehicles, the Telluride was voted best.
SUV and Mid-Size SUV of Texas by The Texas Auto Writers Association - After driving each vehicle on predetermined off-road and street courses, TAWA members voted on the top vehicles in a variety of categories. Journalists were encouraged to drive the vehicles as they would if they were simulating their own day-to-day driving conditions.

Winner, North American Utility Vehicle of the Year - NACTOY jurors vote on finalists after spending months driving dozens of new vehicles throughout the year. To be eligible, vehicles must be all-new or substantially new and must be available at dealerships within a reasonable time from the announcement of the awards, which will take place on January 13. Winner, Full and Mid-Size CUV by the Northwest Automotive Press Association - Mudfest’s on-road portion of evaluations tested acceleration, handling, braking, and more on a track complete with elevation changes, sharp corners, and sweeping curves. The vehicles were also evaluated on an off-road course that challenged vehicles with plenty of loose dirt, deep ruts, and steep climbs and descents.
