Rugged, refined and right-sized, the all-new Seltos energizes the SUV segment with a personality all its own. As a utility vehicle with an abundance of attitude, the Seltos arrives in the U.S. with modern styling and a penchant for adventure, whether that means everyday driving around town or in the wilderness on weekends. Complementing Kia’s robust SUV lineup, and following on the heels of the Telluride, the Seltos slots between the popular Soul and Sportage models, providing a comfortable and tech-savvy cabin, a choice of two well-tested engines.
The all new 2021 Seltos is expected to arrive in the Spring of 2020 and come in LX, S, EX, and SX trim levels with all-wheel drive and available front wheel drive on the S. You're about to learn all that we know, so far, about this awesome new SUV.
LX with AWD
An AWD SUV that is anticipated to be priced below $22K is a pretty uncommon thing - until now. The Seltos LX will have a 2.0L 4 Cylinder 146 HP engine with 132 lb./ft of torque. The cherry on top is the dynamax all-wheel drive system. On the outside you'll see 17" dark alloy wheels, projector beam headlights and matte black side cladding that amps up the sporty style. The available colors for the LX are Black Cherry, Snow White Pearl, Steel Gray and Neptune Blue all paired with a black cloth interior. Hop in the driver's seat and get acquainted with the 8" touch screen display with integrated Android Auto and Apple Carplay, rear camera display and bluetooth connectivity. Remote key fob and split folding rear seats are just a couple of standard features of the LX trim level.
S with AWD / FWD
The S trim is considered as the best value with added style and Kia Drive Wise safety features. We don't currently have a price point on this trim level, but it can be assumed it will cost slightly more than the LX. This trim comes with all of the features of the LX and then some... Like a unique updated grille design, LED running daytime lights, roof rails and available two-tone paint job (just like the Soul). Choose from Gravity Gray, Mars Orange, Neptune Blue with White roof, Yellow with Black roof and Black Cherry with White roof, in addition to the Black Cherry, Snow White Pearl, Steel Gray and Neptune Blue color options. The interior has a few upgrades from the LX like heated seats on the AWD option, leather wrapped steering wheel and a combo of Sofino + fabric seats. The included safety features are what really ups the annte in the S. Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane following assist, and driver attention warning have been added. If you're looking for more power and more safety features without the price tag the SX, there is a Turbo option with a 1.6L engine and 18" machine finish alloy wheels and added blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and safe exit assist.
If you are looking for all wheel drive and a sunroof and wireless phone charging, then the EX trim is the one for you. Like previous trim levels this one has the features of what comes before it, except for the turbo option that comes with the Seltos S. On this trim on the outside you get 17" machine finish alloy wheels and a sunroof option. Color options are Black Cherry, Snow White Pearl, Steel Gray, Gravity Gray, Neptune Blue and Dark Ocean Blue, which is a new color to Kia's palette. There are two interior color options: lush black or gray, like the Telluride, leatherette seats. However the Deep Ocean Blue option only comes with the black sofino interior which compliments the blue exterior very well. Some of the most notable updates for this trim are on the inside and safety updates. Start your car from a distance with the remote start or get in, push start, power adjust your seat and set your phone on the wireless charger. Some additional safety features that caught our eye are blind spot collision warning, blind spot collision avoidance with braking, rear cross traffic alert, rear cross traffic collision avoidance with braking and safe exit assist. The Seltos EX is a good option if you are wanting some extra bells and whistles without the price tag of the SX trim. (Which is still unknown as of now)
SX Turbo with AWD
The top of the line Seltos trim, the SX, comes with a 1.6L turbo 4 cylinder engine with 175HP. The exterior of this trim gets a little more beefy with 18" alloy wheels, two-tone color option, LED head and tail lights and optional sunroof on single colored bodies. Choose from Black Cherry, Snow White Pearl, Steel Gray, Gravity Gray, Neptune Blue, Mars Orange, and Deep Ocean Blue and two tone colors of Neptune Blue with White roof, Yellow with Black roof and Black Cherry with White roof. On the inside you get exactly what you would expect of an SX Kia model. A 10.25" touch-screen display, Bose sound system with connected mood lighting (like the Soul), multi-connection bluetooth (like the Telluride), smart cruise control and a cargo cover to keep your things hidden. As with most SX models in the Kia line up, the right amount of safety features, including the ones mentioned above, fusion type forward collision avoidance with cyclist detection and highway driving assist.
We are getting anxious to meet the 2021 Seltos in person, which should be early spring 2020.
